Operation Summer Camp

Building Confidence, Friendships, and Memories All Summer Long

Building Connections that Strengthen Futures

Operation Summer Camp provides children with a safe, enriching, and adventure-filled environment where they can learn, grow, and build lasting friendships throughout the summer months. Through engaging activities, weekly swimming, educational field trips, and hands-on experiences, campers strengthen confidence, develop social connections, and create lifelong memories.

Designed to support military and local families alike, Operation Summer Camp encourages healthy living, active play, creativity, and teamwork in a welcoming environment where every child feels supported and included. Meals are provided daily, and exciting off-site experiences help children explore all that the El Paso community has to offer.

Program Overview

Operation Summer Camp provides a safe, engaging, and fun-filled summer experience for children while school is out. Hosted by the Armed Services YMCA El Paso, the program gives youth the opportunity to learn, explore, build friendships, and stay active through a variety of enriching activities throughout the summer.

Campers enjoy hands-on activities, games, creative projects, outdoor play, and weekly adventures designed to encourage confidence, teamwork, and positive social development in a supportive environment. Meals are included each day, helping ensure children stay fueled and ready for summer fun.

Thanks to generous support from the Fort Bliss Spouses’ Association, field trip costs for this year’s Summer Camp have been covered, helping make these memorable experiences more accessible for military and local families.

This year’s planned field trips include exciting visits to:

  • La Nube
  • El Paso Zoo
  • Jumpland
  • El Paso Museum of Art
  • Indian Cliffs Ranch
  • El Paso Desert Botanical Garden

Campers will also enjoy swimming every Friday, giving children a fun way to stay active and cool during the summer months.

Operation Summer Camp provides opportunities for military children to make meaningful connections. For military children, who may face moving to a new city, state, and school every two to three years, these friendships, support networks, and memories last a lifetime.

Operation Summer Camp focuses on:

  • Building confidence and enhancing self-image
  • Improving social skills that reflect age-appropriate behavior
  • Teaching conflict resolution and the healthy management and expression of anger
  • Increasing bonds with family and friends
  • Equipping military children and families with tools and resources to cope with the challenges of military life

2026 Operation Summer Camp will run from June 8 through July 31 and is open to eligible youth throughout the summer break.

Space is limited and enrollment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Financial assistance may be available for qualifying families.
