Food Assistance

Food Assistance for Military Families

It is estimated that more than 25% of active-duty military families and 10% of veteran families in our area need assistance with food.

The ASYMCA El Paso’s No-Cost Food Market combats this issue in the community we serve. This program helps military families worry less about food and focus on mission readiness.

Program Overview

The Armed Services YMCA El Paso Food Assistance Program helps strengthen military and local families by increasing access to nutritious food and essential household support during times of financial hardship. Through our Junior Enlisted Family Center, individuals and families can access food assistance in a welcoming, dignified, and supportive environment.

Our No-Cost Food Market operates using a client-choice model, allowing families to select the groceries and household items that best meet their needs, including pantry staples, fresh produce, frozen foods, and other perishable items when available. This approach helps provide flexibility, dignity, and healthier food options for every household we serve.

In addition to the food market, Armed Services YMCA El Paso also hosts a weekly Food Pantry Drive-Thru every Wednesday beginning at 9:00 AM at the El Paso VA Health Care System. This distribution helps increase access to food assistance for veterans, military families, and community members by providing convenient drive-thru service while supplies last.

Through these programs, ASYMCA El Paso works to reduce food insecurity, ease financial stress, and ensure families throughout the El Paso community have access to the support they need.

Military families, veterans, and all El Paso community members in need of food assistance are welcome to register through our Junior Enlisted Family Center. Once enrolled, families may shop our No-Cost Food Market and choose the groceries and essentials that best fit their household’s needs, including fresh and perishable items, free of charge.

The No-Cost Food Market operates out of the Junior Enlisted Family Center, Wednesday through Friday.
